| Bridging the Gap: Spanish You Can Use |
As the world becomes more diverse, the need for knowledge of others' languages and cultures grows. The Hispanic population is the largest minority in the United States. We need targeted and practical ways in which to bridge this language and cultural gap with the Hispanics we meet in our day-to-day routines. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., Director of Spanish Horizons, is compassionately driven to meet the escalating need to promote bilingual and cultural skills to adults from all backgrounds. In 2004, four years after Vendla was asked to develop curriculum to help organizations and businesses reach out to the Hispanic population, she began giving Spanish classes for adults at all levels to help them improve their interactions with the Hispanic population as well. Her business has continued to grow and now she regularly gives presentations and seminars throughout the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and this year expanding to Texas. This 2 hour class is designed for the student who has little to no Spanish knowledge. It will give the student the ability to pronounce correctly words and phrases such as greeting someone, asking how they are and asking their name, as well as other basic informational questions. It will also cover some key travel phrases such as asking for locations, city buildings, and shopping. This communicative and introductory class will give students the opportunity to "get their feet wet" and acquire some linguistic skills in a fun and stress-free environment. | Bridging the Gap: Building and Retaining Hispanic Customers |
As the world becomes more diverse, the need for language and cultural training grows. The Hispanic population is the largest minority in the United States and studies have shown that they are a virtually "untapped" population when it comes to marketing. We need target and practical ways in which to bridge this language and cultural gap. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., Director of Spanish Horizons, is compassionately driven to meet the escalating need to promote bilingual and cultural skills to business professionals. In 2000, Vendla was asked to develop a practical and targeted curriculum to help organizations and businesses build and keep their Hispanic customers. Eleven years later, she regularly gives presentations and occupational seminars to businesses and organizations throughout the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and this year expanding to Texas. This 1 1/2 hour class is designed for the business person who has little to no Spanish knowledge. The participants will learn what the trend is for the Hispanic population nationally, statewide, and locally. They will also learn how the Hispanic culture makes decisions, and where they look for advertisements. Marketing tips, cultural knowledge, and linguistic skills will help the participants learn how to build and retain clientele with the growing Hispanic population. This communicative and introductory class will allow the students the opportunity to "get their feet wet" and acquire some linguistic skills such as pronunciation of Spanish words and phrases and how to properly greet someone in a fun and stress-free environment. Bridging the Gap: Spanish for Kids
|
As the world becomes more diverse, the need for language and cultural training contunes to grow. This Hispanic population is the largest minority in the United States. It is becoming mroe and more necessary for children to embrace a second language so that they can be successful as adults. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., Director of Spanish Horizons, is compassionately driven to meet the escalating need to be able to converse and relate to the thriving Hispanic population. Since 2000, she has been providing seminars for businesses and organizations and since 2004, she has been providing Spanish classes for children. This 1 hour class is designed to introduce children to the Spanish language and culture. Each sample class will introduce children to the theme of the upcoming Children's Spanish classes. They will learn how to greet their friends and use other vocabulary as they sing songs, play games, and participate in other stimulating and enriching activities. So come along and join the aventura!

Creando Puentes: Inglés práctico y útil |
Mientras el mundo se hace más diverso, la necesidad de conocer y aprender otras lenguas y otras culturas crece. La población hispana es la minoría más grande de los Estados Unidos, y aunque es importante que los que hablan inglés aprendan a comunicarse en español, también es importante que los que hablan español aprendan a comunicarse en inglés. Necesitamos buscar maneras específicas y prácticas para crear puentes entre las diferentes lenguas y culturas que encontramos en nuestra vida cotidiana. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., la Directora de Spanish Horizons, está intensamente dedicada a ayudar a cubrir y satisfacer la creciente necesidad de promover una comunidad bilingüe e intercultural para todos los adultos de origenes distintos. En el 2007, se le pidió a Vendla el desarrollar un curriculum para enseñar el inglés como segunda lengua a la población hispana para que tuviera la capacidad de comunicarse en inglés. Su empresa sigue creciendo y Vendla continúa dando presentaciones y seminarios en diferentes estados incluyendo Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska y este año en Texas. Esta clase de dos horas está diseñada para el estudiante que tiene poco o no conocimiento del inglés. Le va a dar al estudiante la capacidad de usar palabras y frases como saludos, preguntas como ¿cómo está? y/o ¿cómo se llama?, además de otras preguntas básicas. We need targeted and practical ways in which to bridge this language and cultural gap in our day-to-day routines. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., Director of Spanish Horizons, is compassionately driven to meet the escalating need to promote bilingual and cultural skills to adults from all backgrounds. In 2007, Vendla was asked to develop English curriculum to help the Hispanic population gain the skills they need to communicate in English. Her business has continued to grow and now she regularly gives presentations and seminars throughout the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and this year expanding to Texas. This 2 hour class is designed for the student who has little to no English knowledge. As the world becomes more diverse, the need for language and cultural training grows, The Hispanic population is the largest minority in the United States and studies have shown that many Hispanics do not use their healthcare systems due to language and cultural barriers. We need targeted and practical ways to bridge this language and cultural gap in the world of healthcare. Vendla Ulrich, M.Ed., Director of Spanish Horizons, is compassiontely driven to meet the escalating need to promote bilingual and cultural skills to healthcare professionals. In 2000, Vendla was asked to develop curriculum, "Spanish Today for Medical Professionals", in order to give practical and targeted skills for better quality care for the Hispanic community. Eleven years later, she regularly gives seminars throughout the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and this year expanding to Texas. This presentation is designed for the healthcare professional with little to no Spanish knowledge. It will explore both the linguistic and cultural barriers in our healthcare system and address practical solutions in not only interacting with the Hispanic community, but also with other multi-cultural communities as well. |

It will explore both the linguistic and cultural barrieris in our organizations and businesses and address practical solutions in now only interacting with the Hispanic community, but also with other multi-cultural communities as well. |
