Para estudiantes que quieren una experiencia más personal de aprender el inglés, Spanish Horizons les ofrece enseñanza para individuos y grupitos. Esta opción les da la atención que necesita para aprender un lenguaje nuevo. Estudiantes pueden recibir más atención del profesor que en una clase normal y pueden asistir clase con un grupito de no más que cuatro personas. Además, los estudiantes pueden escoger el día y hora de la clase y pueden tener todas las clases que quieren en una semana.

For students who want a more personal English learning experience, Spanish Horizons offers teaching for individuals and small groups. This option gives them the attention that is needed to learn a new language. Students can recieve more attention from the instructor than in a normal class and they can attend class in a small group with no more than four people. Furthermore, students can choose the day and time of the class, and can also have as many classes as they wish in one week.

Description of Levels

English Today for Adult Studies - English 1

This class will teach the students to:

• Pronounce English words correctly
• Greet someone, ask their name, how they are doing, and give a farewell
• Use numbers 1-100 & ordinal numbers
• Talk about days of the week and months of the year
• Express dates and appointments
• Begin to use some common English verbs
• Use "the", "a", "an", and "some" in English
• Use the subject pronouns (I, you, he, she, etc.)
• Ask and form informational questions & original statements in the simple present, simple past, and simple future tenses
• Talk about items found in a school
• Talk about buildings in the city & prepositions of location
• Describe colors
• Describe likes and dislikes
• Talk about foods
• Understand some English idioms

 

English Today for Adult Studies - English 2

This class will teach the students to:

• Review and reinforce material from English 1
• Talk about family members
• Talk about foods
• Understand and use more common English verbs
• Describe the weather
• Discuss dates and time
• Use some common irregular simple past tense verbs
• Describe yourself and other people
• Go over how to form "ing" in English (present progressive)
• Describe what people are wearing
• Understand more English idioms

 

English Today for Adult Studies - English 3

This class will teach the students to:

• Review and reinforce material from English 2
• Review the simple past tense
• Properly introduce yourself and another person
• How to use and understand "my", "your", "his", etc
• Differentiate between using "this" and "that"
• Compare people and items using "more...than" and "less...than"
• Form adjectives from verbs
• Form contractions
• Understand 500 frequently used words in English
• Discuss parts of the body & describe aches and pains
• Tell what you "would" do using the conditional tense

 

English Today for Adult Studies - English 4

This class will teach the students to:

• Review Common English Verbs
• Review the progressive tenses
• Describe present and past activities
• Tell what you "will" do using the future tense
• Tell what you "would" do using the conditional tense
• Use object pronouns to say things like "it, him, and her"
• Understand and use more irregular past tense verbs
• Use the present, past and future perfect tenses
• Describe and discuss rooms of the house
